Ancient Monument - UE5

An artsy portfolio piece made in Unreal Engine 5. I wanted to see how helpful the responsiveness of Nanite and Lumen are for making still renders, compared to using a sluggish pathtracer like Cycles in Blender. Indeed, with Nanite and Lumen, I benefited from the speed of realtime rendering, while preserving much of the quality of a pathtracer. I had a lot of fun with this one.

The portal VFX was rendered in Blender and brought into Unreal as a flat card. Similarly, I made custom cloud cards using Blender Cycles' volumetric rendering, and assembled them in Unreal with a few soft gradient cards to create the background sky.
